vortech supercharger opinions?
personally I don't like them. I have a JRSC on my 00' prelude and I love it, i wouldn't trade it for anything. The reason I don't like the Vortech is that it still has to "spool up" like a turbo and it doesn't make its peak power until redline which is kinda of useless. Now dont get me wrong with the proper setup Vortech superchargers can still be a great choice. I have a friend with a Vortec w/ aftercooler on his civic SI. He runs 13.4 with I/H/E Clutch and flywheel. Assuming you have an LS integra I would go for a turbo if your looking for forced induction. I never thought i would tell anyone to go turbo
Vortec in my eyes is great, i havnt had any problems with it yet. Make sure if you get it, get everything u need otherwise bad things may come. But Vortec is by far the best supercharger. 110-130bhp increase
Does anyone know if/when Vortech will release their SC for the LS, because from what I've heard on this site before:
LS is better off with turbo.
Vortech works kind of like a turbo.
SC is usually more reliable than turbo.
If this is all true, than a Vortech LS would be a perfect match.

I'm with NCH22 here. The charts I've seen of Votech SCs show a very peaky powerband. Much more peaky than even a turbo setup. Capable of good power, but almost useless on the street. I'd stick to the JRSC or turbo setup. If I see evidence that the Vortech's powerband can be widened I may well change my tune however.
Vortec does have a supercharger specifially for the ls...its jus not on the dyno charts they have for some reason....it said with just their system alone i should expect 201hp an 158ft/lbs of torque....not too bad

what i saw of the vortec in a recent honda tuning...high peak HP numbers but not much useful power for daily driving compared to jackson racing. Also for some reason the GSR in there only ran high 14's with it (which most good drivers can do stock) Not that you should base everything off 1 mag, but that's what I know.
Vortech kinda defeats the purpose of a supercharger... If you want a lot of power increase just go for turbo...
I mean it's a spooling supercharger, I question if it even falls under the catogory of SC

Yea and it may be negligable but this "spooling turbo" is parisitically taking a few hp and lbs of tq on its way to its PEAKY only power.... why not just get a turbo with less peaky power and uses something completely useless on the car to make its power..... exhaust gases :D
