Default Is a Garrett GT2560R too small?

I know a guy who is selling his Garrett GT2560R turbo. It is from one of those Flyin Miata turbo kits.

Do you think it would be too small for an EK with a B16 in it? I only want about 220 to 240 horsepower at the wheels. Keep in mind that I am getting an awesome deal on it and it is less than a year old.

Some real world experience:

I had one on my stock LS build. Made 283 hp and 295 ft-lbs at 4500rpm at 17psi. Problem I had was holding boost up high. Needed a helper spring on the wastegate, but it was solid after that.

I think it be good for a B16. Transient response was insanely good. Lots of fun, especially for autoX.

The turbo was out of steam at around 19psi on my motor which was around 300whp.

nice, its always good to see someone with actual experience

OP, if you look at the dyno chart you can see where the torque is falling off hard after 5k rpm. so if your goal is a lower end power curve then it might work. IMO, i wouldnt want to my power to be flattening out that much up top especially when you have a b16 that is gonna rev at least 1k rpm more than the LS motor.

also, a t25 mani, dp, etc is gonna be a little harder to come by than your typical t3 setup. whichever way you decide, GL with the build

On he dyno the boost was hitting 21 psi falling to 17 which would explain the extreme drop. There was nothing I could really do about it.

Im sure an EBC could fix that. Ramp up the duty with RPM to compensate.
Small turbos rule on a daily driver. Do it!

I did. I had boost by gear with RPM compensation.

Towards the end of that project I had it pretty solid to where the boost would be pretty flat, but it was still spiking higher then I wanted to. Just internal wastegates FTL.

Because your used to seeing massive turbo's on vtec engines. and a stock ls is nothing like a vtec. SO.......

^^Yes. its not THAT common, but happens more often then not. Look at where peak torque was.. wonderful.

go for it I say talk about instant boost basically, i had an ls with a gt28rs t3 making 207whp and 185wtrq at 6psi (WITH STOCK EXHAUST) and it was super fun for daily driving. If you can get it for a good price i'd say go for it, should be an awesome turbo for a dd

AutoX. Had to run off the wastegate (~10psi) otherwise it was spin fest.
