Vtec wont work. Help?

Default Vtec wont work. Help?
I have a jdm gsr, and for some reason vtec will not work at all. I unpluged the ecu and tried to see if itll work...nope. Disconnected the Vtec sylinoid and it did work either. It is throwing a check engine light, any help on what it could be? Thanks.

VTEC will not engage if there is a CEL. Pull the code and see what it is.

Correct, oil pressure is key to engage VTEC. No oil pressure means no VTEC...

^This is also true for many CEL codes.
