water in charge pipes cause pinging sound?
i've had my turbo d16 running for a liitle over a week now, and its been running great. its tuned and everything is brand new. its been raining A LOT today and my car started making a random ping sound. i tried to avoid and go as slow as i could through the puddles but when i got home to check out the sound, i opened the hood while the car was running, and i could see water droplets in the charge pipe when the bov is open. there was also a big wet spot in my hood, i guess while i was driving it spit water out the bov. anyway could this be what is causing the pining sound? if it is how can i keep water out of my pipes? could my bov be sucking in water while i'm driving and in vacuum?
It could be both. However, if you don't have a filter, or a filter that's low and no OEM lower splash guard, you're probably sucking water into the turbo. Factory turbo cars have the air filter very high up for a good reason.
If you sucked up enough water, you could have even bent a rod the the point where it is slightly tapping the block inside. Check the compression on all four cylinders, if it's bent it will be very low in one or several cylinders.
METERED water injection is okay, unexpected water ingestion is BAD. I just picked up a teg for a steal because it's CIA sucked in a shitload of water. Bent a few rods and seized up the motor.

OK thanks. I don't have splash guard anymore it kinda got ripped to shreds. And I don't have a filter on yet either. I hope my rods aren't bent, they are eagle forged rods so I hope they can take a couple drops of water lol. But it wasn't a constant ping, like it would do it a couple of times they go away.
