Default Tial mv-s 38mm leaking boost

i bought this wastegate new and installed it and it has a .9 bar 13 lbs spring in it but when we tune it on wastegate it opens at 18.95 lbs. so i removed it and did a air pressure test and at around 10 lbs you can hear air leaking around the seal inside the WG and it opens around 16.5 pounds i was wondering if anyone has had this issue and what should i do i am waiting on tial to respond to my email but let me know what you think

Its not an air tight design, its going to leak some internally.... this subject has come up many times.... my old 44mm did the same thing.

Acceptable range of what? By design its not airtight every single one is not going to hold pressure.....

so you are saying that every once in a while a brand new tial watsegate will have this problem because of a design flaw?

he's saying they are designed to leak down the valve guide, which they are

lol did you read what I typed? How can you confuse my words "every single one" with "every once in a while"?

Anyway the TiAL god has spoken...../thread

i had this same problem this week. new mvs with 10 psi spring. hits 15.5 psi in the logs but the boost gauge reads solid 10 psi. which should i believe? both are brand new units........

^^^ I would believe the map sensor before the gauge.

^^ I would do the opposite. I've seen many people have a map sensor calibrated on their Hondata or similar system believing that they had a 3bar map sensor when it was actually a 2.5bar, calibrate it as though it was a 3 bar and would read boost differently. An actual gauge with a strong source at the vacuum manifold is a great "real world" way of determining what's happening, in case the calibration from the map sensor is off. Most people assume its dead spot on, but if not checked, you can get a wrong reading rather quickly.

Well if you cant trust your map sensor then you could be in for a hell of a problem, that boost gauge is really irrelevant. Map sensors come with specific scalars to set them up correctly, you dont get that with a boost gauge......

I have never had a boost gauge read what my map reads, my GReddy gauge would read 1.5bar when I was only running 18psi through the Map Sensor... and a mechanical Autometer was reading on the low side through the same map sensor at 18psi.........

No problem. I have found though that if one mistakenly has the incorrect equipment, no matter what it reads, it would be incorrect. I guess I'm just old. My Power FC reads the same reading as my GReddy boost guage which reads the same as my Greddy Boost controller. give or take a hundredth.

But, I'm also the same old *** who still uses EGT guages, too.

took out the small brown spring and left the large grey one in which makes it a 8 lb spring and it made a little over 12 lbs but couldn't get the boost solenoid to work for some reason everything is wired up correctly and and grounded the solenoid to make sure it was grounding and it was and at 50,60 and 70% duty cycle nothing. any takes on this?

we except that the manifold might make the boost creep higher than the spring rating, no big deal, but this has nothing to do with THE SOLENOID OPERATION.

this is my manifold with the mvs flange on it http://straightlinespecialties.com/s...products_id=68

enigne is a 83 mm LSVtec 9.5:1 skunk2 pro 1's,S362 with .70 a/r exaust housing and 3" down pipe with full 3" exaust it made 500 on just wastegate wich crept up to 15 lbs but couldnt get the solenoid to work.

I dont see a "tear drop" transition on the wastegate area, it appears like the wastegate flange makes a complete 90 off the collector with no smooth transition.... that will certainly add to some boost creep, my Neukin Ram was the same design and I would creep from 16-20psi a the RPM increased, there was no way of stopping it without changing the transition area.

I have 2 44's, and a top mount with the usual 180 reverse upside down wastegate and i see 15 psi steady on a 13 psi spring at wastegate settings.
