Integra type r CAR WONT REV PAST 5800RPM huge problem
hey guys
B18c5 engine itr!! all stock , stock ecu etc... nothing major
The other day car was fine reving 8700rpm with no problem . Today i was driving normal not floring the gas or nothing but when it hits 5800 for vtec engagment it blocks there and its doing noises like its a rev limiter it wont go past ..The engine breaks down rpm stay 5800 and rpm wont go past it ..like is rev limited there
Does anybody have any idea what could cause the problem Fuel is all good i checked it ..ONe of my friend says it might be a distributor coil.. or distributor causing that problem cutting the engine at 5800.But again car is working fine in every gear till 5800 before vtec engagment??
does anybody have any clue what can i check to find whats causing it ..
has anybody ever have this problem??

There is no check engine on oil. I will check oil level but i know if the oil is low the head starts making clicking noises if not enough.. Thanks all for an input
Can i use A different distributor or does it have to be type r .. i mean Acura integra ls is there a difference ?what all distributors can you run on type r
You can but you have to hack it. Better off using a bseries vtec distributor. obd2 is your best bet. You can use obd1 but you will have to re-pin it or use a jumper to make it obd2. good luck.
It's most likely a fuel, or oil pressure issue. Had the same thing happen to me but I was also below E on the fuel level, and 5800RPM would hit like a rev limiter. The same thing will happen if there isn't enough oil pressure, VTEC will not engage.
The oil pressure is good! oil level good. It has to be distributor!! my friend that had a type r motor had the same problem but then again ill check and then see if it is a vtec silenoid too..thanks for the input guys
