Default Weird rev limiter problem - D15B2

Hi guys, so i bought an EG so that my EF doesnt feel lonely
It has a DPFI d15b2 engine whose dizzy has already been changed for some reason (previous owner must have swaped it cuz the other one broke up or smthing)

Now the problem is (and i dont know if it is related to the dizzy) when i rev up with the car allready on proper temperature, it revs to like 6000 rpm and then its like blooop and it revs down to 5000 or 5500 like that, but not fast, it doesnt reach the rev limiter, do any one you know what could this be?

Sorryfor the bad english, Portuguese people here

Cheers

Check the ignition timing, valve timing, air filter and the fuel pressure with and without the regulator vacuum hose attached. You may want to purchase a new distributor, replace yours, see if it fixes the problem and then return it if it doesn't. Good Luck

Itook the distributor cap off but cuz im a dumbass i couldnt see anything wrong, so started it, started nice, drove it for a while, all ok, then turned it off, after about 15 minutes started it again, but it didnt start, the starter rotated but nothing and then it made like exhaust fire but small, and didnt start,15 minutes later tried again and it started normaly ... this is BS cuz now i dont know if i leave home with the car if it will like die in the way or when i want to come back it doesnt start lol damn the guy who changed the distributor, or if it is broken then it lasted like nothing.

In your original post you said that it won't rev past 6k when the engine is at normal operating temp. How does it run when cold? Since it ran fine after you took the cap off, you might have a loose connection in your ignition system causing intermittent problems. Start by checking your grounds, preferably with the resistance setting on a multimeter. You could try replacing the distributor cap and rotor if they are old. You may want to try bending the terminals on the plug wires a bit so they make a good connection. On the side of the plug wire that connects to the dizzy, you bend the terminal apart a little and on the spark plug side you squeeze the terminal together a little. You should hear/feel a noticeable click when the wire connects to the plug. You can also check your spark at each plug wire but it wouldn't necessarily show an intermittently bad connection.

The main thing you look for when checking the inside of the distributor cap and the rotor is corrosion. Usually it's green/white powder or discoloration on the terminals.

It maybe corrosion cuz it is just a bit white like getting thatgreen stuff but not already, when i said run normal means it runs, but it didnt get past 6000.

Going to look at it now

What I meant was does it stop at 6000 when you start the car in the morning and the motor is completely cold or does this just happen when the car is at normal operating temperature?

Hello guys I have the exact same problem on my 91 civic 5 hatch d15b2....except mine is full injection from d16z6 and pm6 ecu my distributor is from d15b7 so
the rev limiter is like veery slow and not so often hit normal limiter on 6500 but its rare..most of the time 99.5% is this slow limiter
I ordered new fuel pump from b16
Checked the MAP,TPS they are okay
yesterday took the cap off the distributor and sanded the corroded terminals...no difference please help me
