Hey guys I recently just picked up basically a complete turbo kit for a good price, The turbo has a TINY bit of shaft play when u move it side to side ... how bad will it affect? will it last etc... it's not going to be on alot of boost maybe 8-9psi

 

Does it move up and down or does the compressor wheel want to move in and out. See picture below...Does it move like the first picture or the second.

A little bit of up and down movement is normal. Its hard to explain what "a little bit is" but you get the idea. If the wheel moves in and out (like the second pic) that's not good. I forget what seals those are, but apparently they're going out. Hope this helps

I think the rebuildability is based on the condition of the thrust bearing? idk someone clarify that for me b/c i know there is a point where you need a whole chra.

 

yeah, you can get rebuild kits off ebay. i just ordered one last week as a matter of fact. type in 'minor rebuild kit'. they are fairly cheap, around 40 bucks or so for the basic kit.
