Yes the gsr trans is a better option. The b16 trans gears are a little too short. The way I understand it the longer gears of the gsr trans will help spool the turbo better.

They both work. For most street/strip applications, either one can work the same 99% of the time. The "longer gears" don't help the turbo spool better. old myth. Those "longer gears" are in 2nd, 3rd and 4th, I believe. check the transmission dial in ratios for each transmission type. The gearing for the B16 is pretty stout considering its lack of torque characteristics.

Keep the b16 tranny. If you are having traction problems, use a boost by gear setup / electronic boost controller, not a longer geared tranny as a bandaid. My car went 150mph with the ITR tranny. The gsr tranny is a great all around tranny for most setups, but since you have the b16 in there, I would keep it.

with 8 psi i would keep the b16 trans if you can stand the rpm's on the freeway, i personally have a b16 trans and with 375whp i just spin untill 4th gear so i want to switch to a gsr trans since i drive alot on the highway and i can't stand cruisin @ 4,000rpm at 70mph

Get a better boost controller and LS 5th gears. LS 5th gears ~ $100 bucks.

That car has to be fun to drive around town when properly setup on boost by gear. You are using avr boost controller right? I wonder if the hondata s300 with aem controller will work equally as well?
