turbonetics turbo question
hey everyone.
I have a turbonetics t3t04 turbo and I was wondering if anyone knew the max boost level. specs are
v-trim comp./.48 a/r turbine.
its going on a fully built sleved b16 so figure I can max out the turbo. what do you all think.
Thanks
Eddie

Hmm, that sounds like it might be a t3/t04b with a .48 turbine housing, thats almost too small for a stock b16, power is gonna fall off hard after 7000rpm.
What is your hp goal anyway?

power goals are to high for the turbo. what do you think I can get out of it.
my setup goes as folows
darton sleved b16 84mm
8:1 comp je pistons
ported and polished b16 head
ITR valve springs
CTR cams
880cc injectors
stock crank
clevite race bearings
mini ram horn manifold
2.5 in downpipe to 3 ft. 2.5 in turndown
edelbrock Victor x manifold ported to head
ported edelbrock 65mm throttle body
s1 cable trany w/mfactory lsd
I know the turbo is to small for 500 plus hp. im thinking a ball bearing GT35R. what do you think.

v-trim w/ that small of a turbine setup will barely make over 400. at 8.0:1 compression, it will be ok for that turbocharger, but for the GT35R, you will have Very little acceleration off boost until the engine is up in the rpm range.

I think a 35r could be a bit laggy for a 74mm stroke engine, the GT3076r is capable of 500whp easily on that setup with a lot less lag, if you can live with a 5500-6000rpm+ powerband go for the 35r but as shodan pointed out your CR is just too low to have such a laggy turbo, street driving will be boring to say the least...
It should be a fun street turbo, and you can max it out on pump gas. If you already have it, you might as well run it and see how you like it, and if you want more power you can always upgrade to something bigger.
