i have a question?
i have 6 friends that have the same year and model as my car [ 96 honda civic cx stick] and all of them have the same problem as me. which is on my right sidepassenger door. the window rolls half way down, and if you try to roll it any more it pops of the tract (no lie all of them have the same problem)
so i was wondering if it was a defect? and who else has that problem and how did you fix it?

Yup, my car had the same problem.. I have a 97 civic ex coupe.. I had to get the window run channel(the rubber part that goes around the window) replaced.. which costed around 200 plus labor.
Use the 'Search' link, there is plenty of links on how to fix your window. I know i use silicone spray in the tracks whenever they they start to get sticky and most of the time it keeps them from coming off of the track
can i tweck it lol and when i go to roll it up it leaves a crack and i have to hand pull it up my self can i buy the rubber peicae and intsall it my self? or does is has to be done the pro way

You can try to tweak it but most of the time it doesnt stay if anything it makes it worse. The best fix is to just buy new window regulators but from what i hear they arent that fun to put in.

Don't bother paying for labor. I wouldn't even begin to call myself mechanically inclined and it's a piece of cake. Doesn't even require glue or poxy on Hondas, just snaps into the track. Very easy to replace. Don't burn money on labor for that

my car (97 civic coupe) has the same problem, have you check a Honda dealership to see it they have done a recall on that. Each year all makes do a recall list which gives a list of manufacture defects. But as long as its not a major or life threatening thing then they don't have to notify you about it because it saves them money. Being that the car is so old they might not honor it if its even considered a manufacture defect.
let me know if you find a solution.

It's not a recall, but I'm pretty sure there's a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) about it.
You can't get TSB's repaired for free, though you can bring it there and pay to have them fixed.
There's a few lists of Honda TSB's floating around the net.
