Running the GSR tranny on your LS would give you slightly better gears then say a B16 tranny on a GSR. For nitrous that's what you want, just as in all motor make that motor wind up as fast as possible. Your gears will suck when cruzing on the freeway but it's all good right!!!!!!!!!!

An aftermarket clutch, and a lightend flywheel would be good.

Get a chromoly, stay away from aluminum.

Have fun turning them.... My friend just raced his 97 GSR turbo coupe today on those slicks except they were by 9" instead of 8". He ran a 12.5@112 on 10.4psi. Those slicks are hella hard to burn out without boost. You might need ur n20 to do a burnout, hehe.... Latez

sorry to bring this back from the dead. Can somebody recommend a tranny for my setup.

b18b, Skunk2 IM, I/H/E

I plan on spraying a 60 shot. Should i keep my LS tranny or go b16 tranny with ls 5th gear(for HW cruising)?

thanks for any advice.

That's a hard one, nitrous likes to have easy power to the ground... Loading the motor with N20 just puts extra stress on the rings, etc... This is why you use short gears and/or a higher FD... As your motor is still nonVTEC this is a hard call... If you still have your stock rev limit then your gears are going to go by really fast, perhaps too fast for nitrous... I think personally here I would stick with the LS tranny as it is meant for the motor... If you are planning on building this motor later on down the road with say a VTEC head, then I would just go with the B16 tranny now... The Y80/S80 GSR would be my choice for nitrous... It's gearing is pretty much inbetween B16 and B18A/B... Good Luck!!!
