LS or GSR tranny
I have a complete stock LS motor turbod I want to know what everyone is useing for a tranny on the same setup.

if it's a BONE stock LS from the valve cover to the oil pan the BEST tranny is.............(drums).....The LS tranny!!! As it stay perfectly in the powerband of an LS. As soon as you put cams, port the head, IM, and other things then you may want to look at a dyno graph and see if the GSR tranny will help out

my motor is bone stock just turbod
but with the 22 in slicks I ran a 11.6 and with the 24in slicks I ran a 12.1 I dont really understand it

i have both trannies for a 93 integra gs and gsr. the difference is quite a bit while you are shifting. it is a 93 gsr motor so with the longer gears it would drop out of vtec inbetween shifts which isn't what i wanted. as mentioned above i think it is where your power band is tuned is how you should decide. i have to put new syncros in the gsr tranny and when i do that i plan on swapping out the 5 gear from the gs for highway driving.
can anyone tell me if the snycros will be compatible? the gs tranny has had a fresh rebuild before i got it.

No need to, Everyone on HT loves to argue b16 vs b18,High c/r vs Low, LS tranny vs Vtec tranny. in the end whatever works best for you has NOTHING to do with numbers in a calculator and the LS tranny works better for me in my application than a b16 or GSR tranny. so in my opinion LS makes the better Street tranny.

its all about torque multiplication man.
multiply your FD gear ratio, to whatever gear you're in, to the torque at that particular RPM.

B16/B18c5' trannys are geared to accomodate a power curve for them

Tight trannys are tight to accomodate the lack of lowend power. They also revv very high.
Do you know a LS or B20 will not like, nore make much power above 6,000 in stock form. You add boost to the matter and just like all motors be more likely to have valvefloat at even stock redline. A Vtec tranny is geared to accomodate a high rpm motor that makes power in high rpms.
Actualy I personaly liked the LS tranny on my 550whp CRVtec, It made it much more streetable. A tight tranny will make the power band ramp too quickly for your tires to keep up. So not only will you have more traction problems increase but you'll also run outta gear well before the end of the track.

the gsr tranny is good for almost every application has nice tight gearing but its not too rediculously agressive so its good for street and will give u an edge over the ls. highway cruising with anything otherthan an ls tranny is dreadful.

if making decent power on an ls with a gsr trans i think you might wind up shifting into 5th at the top of the 1/4. not something to look to do.

right now i have an ls trans on an lsvtec, and if i shift at about 8k, i drop back into gear around 5500, so i stay in vtec and also in full boost the entire time. something else must have been going on, or you set your vtec way to high
