Default Megan Header...Any Experience?

Does anyone on here have any experience with using the Megan Header on their Integra? If so how did you find it for quality and performance?

I hate to go cheap but lately I have been reading good reviews about thier other parts I thought I might give their Header a try, but wanted to check first.

I had one on my prelude awhile back. I went with the stainless but quickly regretted it after I burned finger prints onto the finish (forgot to wipe it down before starting).

Overall I was pretty satisfied with it. The only bad thing was the bracket on the y-pipe broke off because of engine vibration and then I had exhaust gases shooting up through the floor boards.

They quickly replaced it when I showed them pictures though.

My answer - If you aren't heavily building the engine and not going for bling factor, I'd say they are worth it. Only $225.00 compared to around 350 - 400 + for better quality headers. Go with the ceramic coated model to reduce heat in the engine bay.

i have 2 of them. one on my ls and one on my wifes civic. i'm pleased with the performance. the civic was a clean install. the teg on the other hand wasn't, i had to bend the cat-back hanger to line it up with the flange, about 2 inches off. but, thats not to say that you will have that problem, i have 2.5 inch exhaust, maybe that was the cause? as for price, <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by TurbdEG6 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Only $225.00 </TD></TR></TABLE>, i paid 140 bucks a piece.

Don't get it. Save an extra $100 and get a better header.

I installed a Megan 4-2-1 on my Integra, a 4-1 on my Civic, and I sold my friend a 4-1 as well.

Each one fit great and worked well. It's a good header for the price.

Alot of negativity comes from the "I heard" or "I read" group. Dont get me wrong, these headers are not perfect but for the price you cant beat it.

Ya that is what I am thinking.

I guess I will just keep looking. Just finding a header for 2001 GSR is a pain in the *** because the majority are for '94-'99 which has a different header length and no extra O2 bung. Dc Sports is ok but I they are over priced, epsecially seeing as a SUS Header 4-1 design from Greddy is only $320 but again for '94-'99 so it won't fit my car

a good friend of mine has had one on his ls for awhile. He had to modify a few things with a gasket cuz it leaked pretty bad. Overall its so so, but thats what you get for the price.

i have one on my type R, and it fit really well, seems to be a decent piece for the price. the only thing that really pissed me off was the fact that it did NOT bolt up to my omni test pipe. the flange had to be drilled to make the two pieces fit together.

this might be a omni thing or a megan thing. not sure.

i also have a megan racing rear camber kit on my accord and i am very happy with that.

I was asking about quality directly of this header not possible performance gains, or will it fit my cat. Yes they did touch on quality but not as up font nor to the degree myself and others would like in a product review. So for someone who has only been a member for a few months I am pleased you try to look cool and belittle other Integra owners but it isn't becoming of anyone.

thanks for the links though

I was just pointing out the fact that it has been cover several times, and most threads note users "quality" opinions. I remember a "Megan Quality" thread a few days back.

Bottom line is Megan's quality is very hit and miss. Personally, I would prefer to pay an extra $$$ and know the header is going to fit and give real gains.

I had a Megan header on my DA and that crap didnt fit properly. I eventually made it fit and it felt pretty good. I got tired of knowing about the bad fitment so i decided to go with DC Sports. DC header had perfect fitment but it felt exactly the same as the Megan header. So i paid more but had the same "performance gains." It is a risk ordering Megan because as you see, people have had complaints about their fitment. But if your willing to risk that to save a couple bucks, than its a pretty decent header for its price

We cover headers and exhausts at least once a week, that's just the nature of the forum. Team integra has the same stuff, other car sites follow the same way. The wrx forums, corvetteforum, they all are like this. People for the most part cover basic mods and ask over and over, some don't search and some just want to post. On the flip side did you ever think about how few posts we would have if no one asked the same question over?

Megan headers are just as good as paying 2-300$ more for a DC/ Greddy unit.
Unless you plan on making some serious power, in which case go for the Hytech (1k+) or Rage ( 650ish).

I bout a megan header for my 91 LS about 3 years ago new, off ebay for 70.00 shipped, had no problems with it, here I am 3 years later, looking for a new header only to notice that the price has jumped a few hundred bucks, funny things happen when company's grow huh, yet I am sure the only thing changed was how big the name was.
