It's pretty complicating getting it all apart. If you don't have a lift, it's going to be a pain in the ***. You have to 'lift' the engine out to reach the bolts in the back.

even with a lift it was a huge pain in the *** for me. i had to undo all my motor mounts and tilt the motor to get to all the bolts

Not sure about complicated but it was a bitch and certainly not my first rodeo with Honda transmissions. I'd never consider doing it again myself.

4.7 hrs at whatever shop rate is for your area.
+2.7 to replace mainshaft oil seal.
+0.1 to replace release bearing.

So if you're shop's labor rate is $70/hr, you could be looking at between $329 and $525.

Not counting parts.

Attached is a great write up if you haven't seen it already. Ninja's must be able to remove & install in 4.7 hrs. (I had two helpers and was 14 hrs+ )

Hahaha... Unfortunately that isn't how long it takes, just how long you get paid...

It definitely takes a lot longer than 4.7 hours. The person doing it in 4.7 hours must be a speed engine builder or has done a clutch job on the s2000 numerous times.

Actually it's easier to drop the whole thing a few inches to get to the upper back bolts.

the starter bolt might be an *** to get to. you'll need some extensions to get to the bolt above the transmission and the starter. raise the car to a good height sit on jack stands and lower the engine a few inches. if you dont wanna take off the mounts you can unbolt the bolts slightly to the subframe a few more inches for more clearance.

If you wanna get the tranny out, you need to step out the transmission tree (translation from french). The arm between the tranny and the rear end.

Then you need to unbolt all the stuffs holding the engine and tranny, to make it get angle to the back. Then you can unbolt the tranny from the engine.
Don't forget putting off the shift ****.

This is a poor english explanation... Sorry.

Honda Swizerland charges around 450$ for clutch changing (labor only) + MTF3 + rear end oil changing !

(I use a XTD Stage 3 clutch, and tried an ACT Stg4 too, but too hard).

Upper starter bolt needs a long flex-extension, no really easy way around it.

i've done a B, H, D, and accord F series before. tell u the truth, im intimidated by the s2k tranny as it looks like its all on the bottom...

lude/accord ones were pretty painful, can anyone rate how much harder it is relative to that?

It's not nearly as bad as it looks. Get 4 jackstands, a tranny jack, and foot long peice of 4x6 from your local home depot. Put the car up on the jack stands, hold the engine subframe with the wood+floor jack and the entire engine+tranny get lowered together. By myself it was 18hours with food and tool runs. I think i can do it in 8 next time around.
