Default So i switched my girlfriends car to E85

she has a stock 97 ex 5sp and i tuned it for E85 on crome today and it seems to run pretty good and this was using stock pump, stock injectors, and lines and it had no problem keeping up i was woudering if anyone else has switched there DD to E85. It does seem to use little bit more fuel as they say it will but its all good it only 2.30 a gallon lol. E85 FTW

I see no reason switching a stock DD car to e85 unless it's for performance wise. That is my o2 cents.

it's better for the environment...

hey op cool ****, but i'm not sure if you should keep the stock fuel lines on it. i heard that it will cause the rubber lines to rot.

i'm thinking of converting my civic to cng.

^That's a misconception about the stock lines, they'll be fine! True, it's better for our current oil situation, but it'll consume an avg 20%-30% more fuel...just depends on the tune.

Good luck!

its a new biofuel made from corn. It contains 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. Hense the name E85. If it was 100% ethanol it would be pure moonshine and you could get drunk right quick from the pump which is y they stuck gasoline in it.

it does consume more fuel but the savings at the pump and saving the environment makes it worth it in my opinion. hell if i can use the stock rubber lines i'm gonna do this to my 91 civic sedan. gotta try everything once.

i'm not much of a tree hugger, but gotta help out a little

Could anyone post some info on converting to E85? Are there any legal loopholes or such?

when the person mentioned moonshine up above, why couldnt you just build yourself a small distiller, and then boil out the alcohol?? i dont know where that came from, but on a tech subject, the alcohol is actually harder on the rubber lines and stuff. just watch for cracks, it will last a while, but not as long as with just straight gasoline.

From what I've heard it takes more energy to create that fuel than it does gasoline and the enviromental savings for burning it are lost while producing it.

yea who really knows. That sounds a little far fetched, but I could see someone claiming that. Overall, e85 is great to the enviro., bad on your mpg and high octane. My buddy puts in regularly in his 98' supercharged and tweaked regal and makes about 25hp more on e85. That thing screams!! were talking about 340whp on e85.
