Default Small oil problem

The boot on the joint on the steering rack has a slight crack in it. it looks like an oil line is actually going to the boot. true? and when i start my car on the oil pressure comes on like it should when you start it but it stays on for an extra 4 or 5 seconds. any ideas?

Wow...you're very lost There is no oil line attached to any boots on anything. There is a vacuum line on the boots to let the pressure escape from one side to the other when you turn the wheel, but thats' it.

My idea for you would be to replace the boot so your rack doesn't wear out and don't worry about the oil light (as far as the PS rack is concerned anyway). You may have an oil pressure problem but that would be a different story...check the oil level first.

That is probably power steering fluid. You will want to check your fluid level. I have found that after you drain and fill the power steering fluid a couple times it usually stops leaking.
