So you want an internet forum to do all the leg work for you eh? What fun is that?

Similarities of the Type-R and S2000 are:
1) Same lug pattern
2) Both have a high compression DOHC engine
3) Both have four wheels
4) Both are two door (US and Canada models specifically)
5) Both are made by Honda

Differences:
1) One is FWD, the other is RWD
2) One has a B series engine, the other has an F series engine
3) One is single exhaust, the other had dual exhaust
4) One is limited production, the other is not
5) One came in manual only, the other had automatic as an option (someone confirm this)?
6) One was offered in one color only for the first three years of production (U.S./Canada), the other came in various colors.
7) One is a Type-R, the other is not

There are all kinds of similarities and differences. It all depends on how details you want to be. Look this **** up. Good luck on your project.

I also have an S and an R at the moment. My s2000 is an AP2, so what I say is in reference to my experience with it. I've actually never even driven an AP1.

The S has a lot more torque and low-end power. I can speed in 40mph traffic in 6th gear and not have to downshift. The R is a little slower in the get-up but once it's up there it GOES.

The S rides a lot smoother than the R. But I am on track suspension on the R.

The S has an *** that loves to swing out in sharp/hard turns. This obviously doesn't happen with the R. My R can outhandle my S any day. There's virtually zero noseplow with the R.

The interior of the S is a hell of a lot more cramped than the R. If you're alright with not being able to recline, and your passengers are too, then the S is ok. The seats are super comfy in the S, but as I said, there's almost no room to spread out as a passenger.

Also, I've noticed that the center console on the S gets really warm when you drive the car hard or on a hot day. This obviously doesn't happen with a FWD car.

AC in the S seems to work a lot better/colder at high speeds (like on the freeway). When cruising around town, you will find that the S is rather hard to keep cool without having the AC on like 3-4 (out of like 6) at the very least. I can cool my R with the AC on the first notch.

The S gets a lot of attention from people who don't know much about cars. The R gets a lot of attention from tuners and from THEIFS.

The S has an extremely sophisticated ignition-disable feature. That's why people never get their Ss jacked. The Rs ignition disable is easily conquered by any semi-knowledgable thief. Therefore, you might get your top slashed in the S and get your seats and steering wheel (and starter button too) stolen, but your car will still be there. As for the R, you might just find yourself looking at an empty parking spot if you're not careful. The best way to conquer seat-theft in the S is to get a hard top.

Any S older than 2005 (even then it was an option only) only has two speakers. Not a very full sound.

The S comes in a multitude of colors and tones (Suzuka Blue, Laguna Blue, black, silver, dark grey, white, red, yellow, and a few rare colors). The R comes in Black, White, or Yellow, depending on the years.

The S has factory projector HIDs. They are perfect. The R only has projector HIDs on HID JDM front ends.

THe S has a start button. The R does not. The start button is the ****.

The S is capable in stock form of being a 13 second car. The R is a 14 second car (anyone who cant put an R into the 14s shouldn't be driving one).

The S has a 0-60 of 5.4 seconds. The R is in the 6s.

Both cars have such a tight gear-ratio that you find yourself cruising at around 45000rpm in top-gear at 75mph.

There's much more but this is the important stuff. Hope it helps! Let me know if you have any particular questions (or if you just want to buy my S2000 :D )

Btw- Whoever said that VTECs cross-over in the S isn't noticeable must have been in a crappy S (or maybe its different with AP1s and AP2s). In my AP2 s2000, crossing over into VTEC is a wonderful, giddy experience. The tone and roar of the engine changes, and you can feel the car lurch forward with more power. The numbers on the speedo go up so fast you cant even read it. My Rs VTEC isn't even comparable with the Ss (though it still is wonderful).

Unless the majority of stock Rs make it into the 13s, its still not a 13 second car. If people in Ss still have a tough time getting their cars into the 13s, despite the fact that it should by all means make it, the R is going to be even harder to put into those numbers.

My point was that the S2000 is a bit faster in the quarter mile than the type-r. And you can't dispute that. Why someone would be subjecting their S to a quarter mile race is beyond me, however.
