To former ITR and current S2000 owners
How did the jump from the ITR to owning the S2000 feel? I can't really decide what to do right now... I own a Prelude Type SH and have a choice of either an ITR or an S2000. I've been autoxing my friend's S2000 all year and really like the challenge and fulfillment of driving the S2000. I just don't want to shell out the money for an ITR, and feel like it's still missing the intensity the S2000 provides at autox. I vowed never to get a FWD car again, but then again the ITR is no ordinary FWD car. But is the best FWD car in the world still gonna leave me unsatisfied or will the ITR make me happy for the next 3 years until I can afford an S2000? Basically it's either buy a ITR now or wait a year or two and buy the S2k. If I buy the ITR now, then it will deplete my funds and I won't be able to get a S2k for prob another 3 years. Thanks for the input.
My opinion, an S2000 isn't worth the extra money if you already own and ITR but since your buying one or the other I'd probably go S2000.
ask rstor, he went from an itr to an s2000. he would probably be able to give you some good insight as to what each car can do. by the way, if you're looking for an itr, check out my sig.
I like the S2000, but wouldnt want it as a daily driver. I still dont mind having my ITR(highly modified and rear gutted) as a daily driver. Im done with tiny 2 seaters. As far as I know the ITR can do very well in autoX so I dont see how it wouldnt satisfy you in that area. just my 2 cents
At first, i felt i made a mistake when i traded my R for the S. But, as i drove the S more and more, it really is a far superior machine.
I'd recommend getting the S2000. They really are two totally different cars!

My main reasons for going w/the R.
1. all parts are cheaper..(tires, brakes etc, etc..)
2. I hate droptops..
3. Im still learning how to truly drive (hence the FWD choice, RWD is very unforgiving.
4. AFAIK the S2k drivetrain is weak.... I autox w/one and he had to replace his clutch @~30k
5. The R has proven itself time and time again, as being very reliable.
6. The R will hold its value unlike the S2k, which you can pick up for very cheap now. (in comparison to sticker price)
The S is a great car, don't get me wrong. But the R is a great car in its' own respect

ITR's is much more rare/awe inspiring.
It all depends on what you are looking for. If you are going for higher performance... I say get the ITR and use the extra $$$ that you would have spent on the s2k to make the itr a much better machine (which is hard to do) but still possible

the ITR is still a FWD Coupe although awell balanced and quick nimble one....
the S2000 is incredible.
I've driven both and would gladly pay the difference for a S2000 if I had the money to buy either

If I had the cash for either, I'd go with a Mk4 Supra.
But based on what I've driven so far, I'd say go with the S2K.
The car is a wicked performer, and has the looks to impress.

I've driven a 98 r with a lot of mods (jun III's jun ecu 9100 rpm and all kinds of other stuff) and I take our s2k out all the time (comptech header, comptech intake) and I will tell you you can't go wrong with either. The s2k is just so much more fun to drive. R's are awesome, but the s2k is flat out a better car. RWD is awesome and the thing is pretty quick too.
Yes! MK IV!
Destroy all!
<---huge Supra fan!~ but don't have the "greenbacks" for one(and would be MOD
CRAZy!)!
I have driven all the above,...and S2000 is very Small inside no question! Way smaller then my Z by far!(auto X I'm sure its a madman). But would choose R over S.
Driven Stock R's and Modded R's,..love them! about the only FWD car I will own! Which is why I'm buying one over my Z!
SUPRA!-SO smooth/***** out fast!,..pretty damn pimp stock(in my book),...they will never go out of style and will always hold value!
my $0.02

I dont know how jumping from an ITR to S2K is but I do know that the MSP I recently picked up is the closest thing to an ITR (that isn't a Honda product) that I've ever driven.
Id trade my ITR for a s2k if given the chance... although both are great performing cars in their own aspects, the R is obviously more of a track oriented car. The S is a lot better to drive daily, the rwd and power are definitely more enjoyable and the gearbox is fantastic. The cockpit is a perfect sports car IMO, as the steering wheel, tranny all fits like a glove.

Everyone has different opinions. What are your reasons for the r being a better daily driver in your eyes? I hate our s2k as a daily driver but the r would be fine for me. If you drive a s2k everyday you will hate it, top up visibility is terrible for checking your blind spot ie. you can't! I just check as good as i can, gun it and change lanes as safely as I can. Also the s is very cramped inside for long periods, and has no storage capability.

I had the choice when I bought my R of either ITR or S2000 and well I went with the R beacuse of so many reasons.
R- plenty of room inside
R- fwd for snow
R- rare and worth money when older
R- Many options for mods
R- collectable
R- can hold three woman at one time- Very important!
R- Being able to go to the ITR EXPO
R- able to put quality sound system in
R- Reliable transportation
S- no room for anything larger then a shoe box.
S- RWD is fun but can get a driver into trouble quicker then fwd
S- convertable roof makes noise at speed
I can't think of anythong else...

I had a very good friend and national level autocrosser go from an ITR to an S2000 and he was never satisified. He eventually sold the S2000 after owning it for only a year and he still regrets losing the R....
I went from a supercharged GSR to an s2000, and I loved it. I dont know how much more "solid" ITRs are than GSRs but the jump for me was amazing. When I went back to drive my GSR it felt like I was driving a boat. The speed is comperable also, and the s2000 is 100 times more reliable.

Sackdz and me both have similarly prepped Honda challenge race cars, he has an ITR and I have an s2k. At our local track gingerman, My quickestis 134.87 while his is about 137.30. I think the results speak for themselves, from my experience most of the s2k drivers take it easy on the track, where the ITR drivers usually drive their cars harder. With good drivers the s2k WILL be faster on the track.. period

IMO
orig. S2000 < ITR stock for stock
new S2000 > ITR stock for stock
The S2000 I think is def. a great car, however for people like me who enjoy the drag strip as well as the auto-x it leaves a lot to be desired. The new one, OTOH, has a much better powerband for drag as well as auto-x. Although i'd never buy one, simply b/c I don't like convertables as my race cars, but that's just me.
