this is the lazy man's way out......but.......

i just picked up a used gauge and it has a greddy adapter. basically it's a small pipe with a threaded bung for the temp sensor. it fits inline with a coolant hose.

the sensor just screws right into the top, and you clamp that somewhere inline with a radiator hose (i'm going to put it in the lower rad hose to keep it out of sight mostly).

Tap the metal water tube in the of you block that will be the cheapest way "not easiest" and the most precise, due to it being so close to the blocks return

for the tapped Greddy Tee, but you have to remember that the further from the block after coolant has passed through you are the more inaccurate the reading will be; that is of course if you want to know what temp the engine's coolant is at and not the temp @ the radiator.

IF you use that adapter don't put it in the lower hose, it doesnt matter what temp the water comes out of the rad, you want to know the engine temp, so it has to be in the upper hose. You can also make one of those for like $10 just get the proper size steel pipe to fit a rad hose(exhaust coupler works good) and then just drill a hole in it and weld a bung on that matches the threads of the sending unit.

This is how I did mine. Keep in mind I have the heater controll wide open so the coolant constantly is flowing. I chose the heater hose leading to the firewall as a source for my water temp gauge. Works like a charm.

Gauge mounted.

I don't have one. I don't need one. If I did though, I wouldn't shop at a home supply store for my parts.

honda tech is a cool place, don't be a jerk, keep your OPINIONS to yourself. Give some suggestive critical comments if you have too, but don't just outright be a jerk to anybody else. Thanks.

Why pay $25 for an adapter when you can make one for $3? It all works the same...

Plus who tries to impress people with their water temp gauge sending units?

I don't care what other's think. I care what I think. If I had that in my car, I'd laugh at myself. Do it right or don't do it at all.

What is wrong with the way I did things? The gauge works like a charm and the sending unit isn't visible unless you look for it. Tell me, can you see it??

Didn't think so.

Sorry Home depot isn't JDM enough for you There is nothing wrong with his setup, get over yourself.

I installed mine similar to Mr Death with "suppy store" fittings. I used one of the coolant lines that went from the back of the thermostat housing to the head. Works perfect and was under $10.

JDM? Did I say anything about that? There's better ways to do it. Much better. Cleaner installs that dont look so crappy.

Also, just wondering are you saying the guages in the cabin set up is "crappy" or just the tee for his sender?

The gauges in the car look all right. It's that crappy T. That's just my opinion. Why not just tap into a flange instead of introducing a bunch of leak possibilities? It may take a little longer, but it will look better and most likely function better.

hey what happened to honda tech any ways? keep ur opinions to yourself, buddy. i did it the same way mr. death did it and it works great. in fact, i probably got the idea from him in the first place over a year ago. you cant even see it like he said unless your looking. i have a boosted b16 under the hood with a wire tuck and the ugly water temp sensor adapter doesnt bother me a bit cuz I CANT SEE IT.
