Ok, here is my dilema
I currently have a 93 civic CX with a Mini-Me Swap done to the engine. D16Z6 Head Intake etc, and the stock cx block. When Im driving the car if i rev past 2500rpm i get a big cloud of smoke from the exhaust. I just replaced the valve seals and the pcv and it does it still does it. when i had the cx head on the engine it didn't smoke not one bit, so i dont think it's the piston rings. what else could it be. please help it's a little rediculous that it's smoking that badly. Also i need to get this problem resolved before i can install my turbo kit on this motor. (only thing that's stopping me from installing the turbo on this motor).

one thing that i was told to do by a guy that owns a honda shop by my house is next time you change your oil dont use oil but use aouto tranny fluid and drive it for like a hundred miles. DONT BEAT IT!!!!! and then drain it and put regular oil back in. This supposedly conditions your seals and will stop oil burning problems, also when you put the tranny fluid in dont change your oil filter. Dont quote me on any of this i may be wrong but i will be trying it very soon. Another thing that may be the problem is that when you bought the car, i dont know if you did the mini or what, but the last head may have had a bent valve from a broken belt, and this valve may have come into contact with a piston. i heard that when this happens it can screw up rings which will lead to burning oil. hope this helps dude
i have never heard of putting tranny fluid through...let me know if that works but i have a b16 in my civic and when i drive it normal it doesn't smoke but when i get on it it smokes white then a little black or if im like gettin off an on ramp i have straight pip exhaust to a shitty muffler but if i let it just idle down as i roll to a stop or down shift at like a light or something it will smoke white... i also did a compression test and i think they were all aroung 215-220... the motor is stock and has stock b16 settings on the ecu... my guess is it valve stem seals but i dont want to pull the head off and replace them til i have aftermarket parts to put in with it... well let me know if you guys have any other ideas then valve stem seals

also, what type of oil are you using?</TD></TR></TABLE>
He said he did a compression and leakdown test, and everything was okay. That engine restore stuff "fills in" the scratches in your cyliner walls caused by dirty oil to restore compression. Again his compression is fine, that would be a waste of money.
OP: Headgasket could be bad, or you might have torqued the nuts on the studs wrong during the mini-me. Make sure before you torque anything down that you clean all threaded objects very well so you dont get a false reading.
Also, have you checked to see if you need a valve adjustment? I know I was burning oil pretty bad, and when I had a valve adjustment it went away.
How good of shape was the head that went on the car? Do you know the person that had it before you? It could have been warped. If so, you'll have to bring it to a machine shp and have it decked.
Last thing, I promise. Valve seal...

since the last post, the only thing i havent done was a valve adjustment. the head was bought throught ebay. i refreshed the exhaust valves because when i bought the complete head with intake, the guy said that he put intake valves on the head. in a couple of weeks iam going to be putting chrome moly rings and new rod bearings on the lower end just to see maybe it is a ring. i dont know why its smoking like it is but hopefully it wont kill anything on my mini-me....

Update, got the valves readjusted and problem still there.... still smoking, car accelerates a little better now, but still need to fix smoking problems
Try using a different kind of oil. I used to have a 99 Prelude that would burn 1-1.5qt of Mobile 1 every 3000 miles. I switched to Castrol full synthetic of the same weight and it stopped. ??????? I don't know why it helped, it just did.
