Distributer problem....
from just being old i guess but could it be somehting in the head not balanced correctly and making them go? sorry to sound so stupid but i just got this car last tuesday and now this is happening just wanting to figure out **** on this car
Ok so other than a 93 hatch what model and what engine.
Could possibly be the dizzy housing which if you got another you could swap the guts over to the new housing and go.
Get a stethoscope and while car is running prod it around looking for noises.
Cancel out stuff like injectors because those make popping sounds. Check oil level. Pull valve cover to inspect the head for weird wear or marking.
If it is ticking could need a valve lash adjustment.
Could be alot without looking at it. Could be a loose nut somewhere rattling around I don't know.
Hope this gives you some direction on where to go.
