Default ahh noisy head!

my head started tickin really loud all of the sudden. i checked the oil and i was a little bit low so i added some. now its worse? thers about 57K on the motor(gsr), im thinkin maybe the valves need adjusted?

Are you sure it is the head.. sound like rod bearings to me.. if not try a valve adjustment

im not entirely sure...i just got this motor tho, i only put 6K on it. is there anyway i can check for rod bearings myself?

frist drain oil look for metal junk then pull pan . find the loose rod.. bammm. your problem.. not a 100% sure this is your problem.

Im highly highly doubting the rod thing. Could be, but its most likely your valve lash out of spec or your LMAs making noise. Most gsr's make quite a bit of noise to be honest...atleast after some good wear and tear they do.

just to be on the safe side im gonna change my oil a little early this time and try to get the valve lash done asap

If your valve lash is in spec, and you know it's coming from the head, then it's most likely the cam journals. I had a LS head that I grabbed from a blown 99 LS motor, threw it onto my built LS block, and when the car got warm, it would make a loud, unbearble tapping noise when driving or revving the motor. Upon further inspection after we tore the head apart, the cam journals were all fubar'd so we replaced the LS head with another.... problem solved. Check your cam journals to see if there's any noticable scratches and/or excessive wear.
