Default Inaccurate Boost Gauge???

Can a boost gauge go bad?

As soon as I floor my gas pedal my boost guage needle jumps past the 20psi mark and keeps going. Can a boost gauge somehow read double what it should?

I am confused.

It's possible but I would try to get a reading from the MAP first

Thanks guys.

I also have an autometer. What would be a better / more accurate brand to go with?

lol may it's not reading wrong. i dont know what tuning device you're using but you should see what the map is reading.

id also like to know what other brands people are using and if they seem accurate or not. When i first got my autometer it read fine but it seemed as the weather got colder it would read like 6psi of vacuum when the motor was off. The differential between the actual boost and gauge reading is constant whether in vacuum or boost. I know this because I am tuned for 10psi with an 11.5psi boost-cut and at peak boost the gauge only reads around 4psi. Is there anyway to set the needle back at 0 when the motor is off?

I have never had a problem with Autometer gauges in customer's cars. The only gauge I run in my personal car is an AEM UEGO wideband. I'm not saying problems dont exist with Autometer gauges though

VDO makes quality gauges and you don't have to rent out your sister to pay for them like Defi's...
