Default oil blow by coming from breather filter

i have a k & n breather filter on my motor...but there's a little oil coming from it and it looks pretty dirty...so can i clean it or what are you guys doing to remedy this blow by from the valve cover situation? i'm also trying to avoid getting a catch can...i thought i read on this board that people were running a piece of hose directly under the car are something....maybe not

it's just a piece of hose connected directly from the top of the valve cover(where a breather filter would go) straight down to the underneath of the car? now my question is...is this harming anything? of is it ok?

Depends on how much blow by you are getting. I was getting a huge amount of blow by and oil coming from my breather. But I had a bent rod and melted piston . But if you are only getting a bit of blow by you should be fine with just running a small tube from the breather down to the ground.

Yeah you shouldnt see any problems with runing a tube to the bottom of the car.

I'm sure the EPA wouldn't like the tube coming off the vavle cover. I know when I used to run my car like that I would get the occasional burnt oil smell, besides that I had no problems with it.

Oil stays in the can.
I wouldn't pour that oil back into the engine, just toss it.

LOL, I would not put that oil back in the engine, especially if the catch can has any dirt or metal particles in there.

if you run a tube to the ground, you're not allowed on any tracks...
