Picture Request - Flux'd Oil Return - Ghetto Fab
A few years ago there was a post going around with a guy that welded an oil return line to his oil pan. It looks like 10 years of birdshit piled up in the form of a weld.
Does anyone have this picture? I was reminded about it after seeing this thread:

wow.. ugly. Woulda been better off just tacking it a few times and JB welding.
(I've seen more set ups thanI can count w/ JBwelded pans including my own. Never a problem if surface prep is good.)

I'm pretty sure what happened was the original weld leaked and they just kept trying to get it to seal without cleaning it or draining the oil. Anyone who has tried something similar will tell you that the heat generated just tends to pull more oil toward the site and make the problem worse. Whoever did this demonstrated that pretty well.
I know that weld. I guy named Elliot from some haggard shop in NJ did that weld on DC2R714's oil pan when he first went turbo. The shop has since been shut down......i wonder why....?...?
yup that was my car. SKR Performance in Jersey did that and blew my motor within a month. That was when I didnt know any better and totally got taken for a ride. What a waste of money. Thanks to Honda-tech that shop was closed down shortly after I exposed the crappy workmanship to HT.

Yeah, the only thing is he added about 25lbs of dead weight to the engine.
Oh well, at least it was over the front wheels haha.

It looks like they laid some pretty nice beads. But the probelm was they where going the wrong direction. They should of went around the fitting instead of straight at it.
But it is a damn funny picture, wife and kids wanted to know what I was laughing at.

You have to appreciate art in its truest form...
I bet none of you could duplicate those welds even if you wanted to; since all you guys are so used to laying stacked coins with a TIG
