Default Beginner question: Info appreciated

I drive an EJ wiith the stock d16Y7. I'm considering going turbo, since it is cheaper than a swap, and can make more power. I'd like to keep the car reliable while having 8 or so lbs of boost (is that possible?). The power goal is 180whp. Any recomendations for snail/manifold etc? I'd like to keep the cost around 2 grand or so.

there is no reason why 180 whp is not reliable as long as it is tuned correctly. if you spend 2 grand on a turbo kit for 180 whp than you have spent way to much. shop around here in the sponsors forum. $1000 should be good for the complete kit. log style manifolds are cheap, reliable, and capable of supporting your power goals. at the top of the forum is a sticky "Forced Induction FAQ" read everything in that post and you should be good to go. good luck with your build
