Would a bad alternator make my car behave like this?

turn the car on and pull the bat neg off. if the car dies then the alternator is bad.

Will a bad alternator cause the car to throw a code 20?

It could and high resistance in your wires could as well. Check the voltage at your alternator then at your battery. If there is more that a .5v drop its high resistance and you can go from there. If your alternator reads below 13v with no load(idling with all accessory's off) its your alternator.

Isn't code 20 for an ELD? May want to start there. Under hood fuse box.

Is this a stock car? If not, what's the setup? Do you have a Helms? Do you have a multi-meter?
