Most people reccomend Phillips, they apparently have the best quality and reliabilty. It is important to remember that the bulb and the ballest are two seperate pieces so if you're not careful someone might try to pass off a Phillips ballast with a cheapo brand X bulb.

The color is a byproduct of the temperture of the bulb, the higher the number, the more purple the light becomes. However, don't get "gassed" by the bluest HID you can find because a lower temp bulb will light the road better, and will still look good. No OEM manufactorer uses a bulk higher than 6000k, keep that in mind.

The real issue to be concerned with is beam cut off because Civic's reflector housings were not designed for HID (this is really true for 96+, I'm not so sure about 92-95). The result is an unfocused beam that throws much of its light way up high, into the eyes of oncoming drivers, and away from the road where you need it.

SuperTwinz on this site just got a set of Hella low/high beam HIDs that appear to have an excellent cut off because of the mechanism that controls the low beam/high beam. I'm STILL ( ) waiting for him to post some more pics of his beam pattern, and if those look good I might take the plunge too!

Don't really have that great of picts, but at night they look plain & simply awesome (and very bright). Very distinct and pure white with slight haze of purple... not purple looking like BMWs, but more so like Mercedes and Acura TL cars.

Here are some more picts: http://www.csuchico.edu/~dnewman/HID/

Best $400 I spent in awhile... well worth it if you like the road lighted up infront of you.
