Default Oil Filter

I went and purchased an oil filter from the dealer and it came with a washer. I usually just buy the auto parts store filters which don't come with any. My question is do I just hand screw the washer then the filter and hand tighten it? or should I just forget about the washer?

the washer goes inbetween your oil drain plug and the oil pan.

omg this thread is just sad.

Chances are maybe the original owner of the car went to a quicky oil change place and dropped the original plug and put in an aftermarket one that has a gasket attached to it or whatever. That might be why you've never had to run one before but yet, like the other guy stated, at honda we put a new washer on at each oil change. They are a crushable washer. One use wonder.

Yeah the washer goes inbetween the plug and oil pan, that washer is a crush washer and should be replaced at every oil change.

got any oil residue around the bottom of the pan on the outside? It's probably because there's no washer on there.

I usually order about 20 of them at a time when I place an order for other parts from Baranco Acura

thanks again just finished changing my oil with new washer

I also changed my spark plugs while at it. Is it bad if there's oil around them?

You need to replace the o-rings on the valve cover. Usually when you buy the vc gasket set at autoparts store, the o-ring spark plug grommets come with.
