Default d15 vtec ecu

i just found out my motor is shot needs rings d15b7 in an 89 hatch..so i got a good price on a d15 vtec in miami for 599, the guy wants 225 for the ecu which i think is rediculous considering the price of the motor.. so for the time being can i run the car with the b7 ecu? is the d15 vtec as good as the z6? i dont want to get a z6 with alot of miles on it..just dont but again i want a 1.6 for the aftermarket support any help would be appreciative

Just to let you know there is a guy selling a D16Z6 in Miami for 200$ right now You can use the D15B7 ECU if you chip it and map it out for VTEC operations.

You actually could use the classified at this point as you are no longer a trial user unless there is a certain post limit you need.

Here is the thread with the motor for sale. I was thinking about buying it myself as a spare but I have no where to store it until my apartment is done in Nov.

Ok, but the Z6 follows the K.I.S.S. stupid rules...and it's cheap For the head the parts are the same, but the bottom end it gets interesting. The rods have a different big end then the standard D15 rods and the pistons are different compared to all other D15 pistons.
