b17 ecu on single cam??????

Default b17 ecu on single cam??????

okay well i just bought my first civic i had to put a new motor in which is a d16z6 the guy i bought the car told me the car came with a b17 ecu which i don't know is true because the sticker are removed! well the car runs fine but when im driving for about 5 mins i get a cel.! i dont think vtec is popping either should i just replace the ecu with a p28.

am i right that i have no vtec running that b17 ecu!

what?

do you mean...

am i right that i do not have vtec if i am running that b17 ecu?

i think the b17 is a vtec motor. i am not 100% sure though, if it is then your vtec would be working you would just have the wrong tune running your d16. so it would probably run kind of crappy compared to if you had the p28. unless the b17 ecu was chipped.

a b17 is a 2nd gen USDM Integra GSR engine....so yes, it is Vtec! and as for the sticker being removed from the ECU....I think the dude's fulla ****...swap it for a chipped P28. best bet. GL!

pop the cover off the ECU, theres a second sticker on the inside on the grey plugs that no one seems to be aware of.

If you use the P61 you will need a knock sensor installed on your single slammer.
