Default Which tranny for my B18A swap?

I am swapping in a B18A and am planning to turbo within a few weeks and was just wondering if there are any huge gains by using a b16 cable tranny over the LS unit?

The B16 has the shorter gearing than the B18A/B tranny. For a turbo application I would factor in the size of the turbo, how fast it spools and where you want to make your power just to name a few items. I might also go hit up the Forced Induction forum and ask them. They may have better insight.

if you are going turbo i would suggest the LS just because the B16 gear ratio is very short and depending on when your turbo spools you will prolly run out of RPM's but NA the B16 is great because of the short gears , its faster

ive always felt that the b16 tranny belongs on the vtec motors....seeing how the powerbands are completly different,,i guess it would also depend on the turbo you're using though...but i would just use the ls tranny and maybe add an lsd if you have extra $$

the shorter the gear ratio, the more the acceleration. no matter what application.

with the ls tran it will take longer to boost, and when you shift to a higher gear your rpms could fall out of the spool range, losing boost and speed. it is dependent on the specs of the turbo, but thats a general statement.

i would stick with the ls tranny then,,,cause its more matched....That turbo is gonna spool quick and last through the rev range,,,,the ls tranny would be perfect for that......If you was using a large turbo for example 60-1 i would get the B16 tranny seeing how the turbo is all top end and the power band is short perfect with the b16 tranny....Just my opinion though

i would agree if you were on a budget, that couple hunderd dollars could be used elsewhere, like a good tune. but IMO if you are capable i would use the b16 tranny.

I agree, just depends on where u r trying to put ur power down at,...with ur setup...use the ls.Look at the ration chart for gearing and then look at ur turbo size...........GO LS!!!
