Default Anyone run into this problem with ARP head studs for D Series

2 of the 10 Head Studs are too long in ARPs Kit #208-4301 for my D16Z,and it aint the block cause i tried them on 2 other D blocks. The problem bolts are the one just next to the vtec solenoid on rear side(oil filter side) of cylinder #4,it bottoms out about an 1/2" sooner than the other 9 holes and the other is the rear one next to the cam gear on cylinder #1,the Cylinder Head steps down about 1/4" lower where the head stud pokes thru as compare to the other stud holes, ive contacted ARP about this, talked to two seperate guys, who both gave me the same line, that say i should tap and clean the treads and that they sold a thousand of these kits and never had such a problem...BS...they probably had no one complain cause they stacked washers to make them work, which is what ill have to do until ARP sees the light and makes a fix..anyway,,my point is,,dont buy ARP head stud kit #208-4301 for a D16Z or D16Y cause of poor fitting and you should not have to stack washers with it which both ARP tech guys said they dont recommend stacking washers like that!

well, for my money,i want it right, the kit would be perfect if it came with two studs shorter, one 1/2" shorter the other 1/4" shorter

The studs are suppose to be higher in those 2 locations. When you put the head on, you'll know why. Paul

I had that problem, except every one of the studs were too long.

I sent them back and got a full refund!

to Summit Racing

good luck,
