Help me pick turbo T3/T04B 54 trim vs. TO4E turbo with a 60 trim
A guy is selling drag kits on ebay, the normal kit comes with the t3/t04b 54 trim and the upgraded kit is the t04 60 trim, and Ben from importparts said the turbo in his kits are to4e/t3 63 trim. I don't understand which would match my engine (b18c1) better for mostly daily driving. I plan on running 9psi for now until I can afford re-build.

t04b doesn't come in a 54trim. only the t04e does.
t04bs are S and V trim, etc.
And be very weary of anyone selling stuff on ebay, because they are probably not autorized to sell the stuff.

the to4e cant have a 63"trim" anything. it can have a .63 a/r compressor housing and a 60 trim or 54 trim compressor wheel.

Sorry guys, I copied and pasted it right from the auction? I guess I really shouldn't trust somebody who doesn't even know what they are selling! I'll just stick w/ ben even though it's a little bit more

Actually, If you want a quick spooling turbo that will be great for the street go with a T3/T04E with the following specs:
.63 A/R Turbine Housing
Stage III Turbine
.50 A/R Compressor Housing
50 Trim Compressor
This turbo is good for 325-350 whp without having any major problems! You will have full boost by 3200-3800 rpms! The .60 A/R Compressor housing along with a 60 trim or 57 trim compressor wheel will be pretty big for that size turbine housing! The 54 Trim compressor wheel won't be that bad, but the compressor maps aren't much different than the 50 trim compressor wheel!
The T04B compressor housings are smaller, thus the wheel contained in the housing is smaller and will move less air than a T04E compressor housing!

True although the Super-series 04B compressors had a 3" major diameter and the 04Es only have like 2.94" major diameters

Re: Help me pick turbo T3/T04B 54 trim vs. TO4E turbo with a 60 trim (intekragsr)
Well I am running a T3 .63 A/R
With a T04E 60 A/R compressor but I though my wheel was a 53 trim. Am I wrong? My turbo seems to spool up pretty quickly. Another thing is I don't have a stage III wheel. It's smaller with more blades then a stage III Am I loosing alot of flow because of this?

Well, the Compressor wheel trim is still small, a 54 trim, correct? You may have that wheel in the .60 A/R Compressor housing , so it really won't effect you that much! The .63 A/R Turbine housing is a great turbine housing for the street. The Stage III Turbine is one of the larger turbines available so there will be more lag than lets say a Stage I or Stage II turbine! The only other turbine available is a Stage V turbine which is only available through Turbonetics. Garrett does not carry the Stage V turbine or special machine turbine housing!

Well what kinda gain's would I get with a stage III wheel vs a II or I? I am sure it's either a I or II. So the 54 trim is small for a B18B? Would a 57 be better with a stage III wheel? I just got the turbo before christmas and it's been rebult once (for warrenty) and it still leaks oil. It leaks out of the center section where it meets with the turbine housing. I am really fed up with this turbo and want to get a another one!
Also I see your from Denver PA. Thats right near me what car do you have?
