ECU chipping question already searched?

Default ECU chipping question already searched?

Hey guys ive looked around and searched on ECU chipping and i so i bought the Phearable kit - Now im looking to install it and am a little bit confused- I know were the chips go but where do the 2 capaciters go? Ive looked at the tutorials but they are not helping too much any input>

Five is on the far left were it says c51, next to the 74hc373 latch chip.

Seven is on the bottom left were it says cn2, only fill up pins 1-4 with it, which are the 4 to the left.

so with 7 it goes right into those holes? all the tutorials i have viewed didnt show it there in the final prodcut

It's a pin header for datalogging. Desolder 1-4 and put the short ends of the pins through and solder in.

i assume the long ends go in first- but does it matter which way i put it in?

Short ends go in first, there needs to be enough pin coming out of the board for the datalogging cable to plug in.

Yes, all kits require soldering.

It's not hard, though. As a noob I picked up some junk boards from my job and practiced soldering/desoldering. I figured it was fairly easy so I went ahead and chipped my own ECU.

Yes, it is very easy to remove the sleeves with too much heat. Try using anything under a 30 watt gun/iron.

I think the one I used was a 15w one from RadioShack.

BTW- Spend the few extra dollars on the mechanical vacuum style solder sucker vs. the braided copper. Much easier to work with and much faster.
