turbo knowledge needed
Hey guys. My friend just recently swaped a K20R into a EG6 hatch. He also recently slapped on a turbo on it. Here is his setup.
Rev Hard manifold
Tial 38 mm wastegate .6 bar
Garret turbo .53/.60
custom "2.5 downpipe
FMU
Stock type-R injectors
Greddy RS BOV
"2.5 intercooler piping
Apexi GTRcore intercooler
3" custom mandrel bent exhaust
Hondata K-PRO running the Rev Hard base map on 310cc injector setting
Im pretty sure thats his setup. Now the question. His car has a rev limit of 3 or 4 grand. When he lets of the gas, it back fires, LOUD. It idles a little rough, like a wrx almost. occasionaly it dies. what could be causing his car to be acting this way? Before the turbo, the motor ran buttery smooth with no problems. After the turbo went in, it seems like it went down hill. No idea what could be wrong. Any input would be appriciated. Thanks in advance.

Easy fix. It's his tuning. A basemap is just that (basic) he should get it tuned if he can't do it himself. Clean up the A/F and it should fix it. You can take off the rev limiter with kpro as well.
Ok. We got the rev limit issue fixed. It doesn't make the popping noise anymore. But the lambda is always reading 10.70. it never changes on the display. could his wiring be wrong somewhere? Another thing that we discovered is that when he revs the car, his injector duty cycles drop to 0% when he takes his foot off the gas. Is this normal? No one that can dyno tune on the island. We're very deprived out here. Me and him are the first people to be tinkering around with k-pro. We still have a long way to go, but are more than welcoming suggestions that you may have. thanks in advance
when it drops to 0% it IS normal for a short second, i would love to help you and explain it but to be honest theres no short explaination, im not sure if you know or not but try hondata.com...... they have videos you can watch that will literally take you step by step, there long and boring but VERY VERY good, try changing the plugs too, they might be acting a lil weird because of the new found parts, stock ones wont work all that great
