Default Engine check light acting crazy

so here the deal is. almost a month ago, i put my mugen chip on my ecu(it has a small chip port already attached) and turned on my car(b18c1eg6) and the check engine light came on.

so i thought maybe it needs a minute to turn off. no help though. then i shut the car off at a light and turned it back on and the check engine light was gone. no problems after that.

todya i get home from out of town work, hop in my car and get it runnin to warm up as i unload the work truck. i peel out of the parking lot(i looked both ways) and then came up to a light and noticed my check engine light was on. i pulled up to another light and shut the car off to see if the trick would work again. and it did. but then 25 minutes later it came back on. i also noticed my engine temp gauge has been climbing lately too.

i realy hope its not too much work cause i'm tired as hell.

any info would be helpful. thanks.

The next time the check engine light comes on, leave it on. Jump the ECU and find out what code you're throwing and go from there.

Look for a blue two pin plug on your wiring harness down by your ECU. Take a paperclip (or something metal) and stick it in that blue plug (jumping it) while the check engine light is on. The check engine light will flash what code your throwing.

No, you wont hurt your car or yourself. Did you locate the blue plug?

OK, this is the best I could do cuz I am at work.
First, find the blue plug ( its a 2 pin plug)

Next find something to jump the 2 pins together......
The one on the left is something that I rigged up, or a paperclip will work fine.

Your ECU will start to flash.
Long flashes=10
Short flashes=1
Example.....Long, long, short, short, short=23
If you do a SEARCH here on H-T you can find out what all the codes mean.

Hope that helps.

i have the same put with a ecu tuned with crome i asked the guy who did it what the deal was and he said that the vss was causing it .... i guess when i start to slow down in gear around 20 mph or so i throw a code or after hard acceleration and slowing i just shut the car off and then back on and the code goes away...hope this helps ....from what i have been told also is some honda motors do this a a warning but i dont really know for what.

thanks for the pics. can't get the light to come on though. though i think it is due to the radiator line leaking on an engine ground wire. i forgot that i had removed my overflow basin to put my V2 cai on. that was back in december. here it is damn near april and i still haven't gotten universal fit for it.
