Default Problem torqing down headstuds/messed up thread maybe? Help me plz.

This is what happened, I installed my turbo kit about 3weeks ago. I ran the car about 4psi on the boost gage. I was running off the wastegate spring no boost controller. Ran fine all nite. Next morning I decided to drive to Napa for some oil and the car had NO power at all. As if it wanted to stall, I drove the car back home(limping all the way) and park the car and saw while smoke. At first I thought it was my turbo, but when I toke my exhaust manifold off port #4 was covered in oil. So I bought a new head gasket thinking it was that, when I was loosening the headstuds 1-3 loosened fine but when I got to stud #4 it did not want to move. With a LOT of strenght it finially broke loose but entire time I was loosening it make a kinda like a squeeling sound. All the other 9 studs came out fine except that one. I decided to put them all back in and torque them back down to see if the same would happened again, All 9studs torqed down fine except #4 it started screwing down fine until it started getting tight then started squeeling and it did not feel like it was torqed to 61ft lbs. This is on a gsr motor, I got the head milled because it was warped. Toke off .005, is the thread messed up or the bolts?

probably skanky threads....timesert makes a repair kit for it....the size you need is M11x1.5

sounds to me like you need new pistons, not a headgasket.

Why do you think I need new pistons?

the way you described your problems does not sound like headgasket, especially at 4psi. if you were talking 44psi then i might think headgasket, but it sounds to me like you smoked up a piston. also if you took off your exhaust manifold and the turbo was filled with water, not oil, then i would suspect head gasket, cracked sleeve, or dropped sleeve. its very rare for b series headgaskets to randomly blow, if the gasket does blow, its usually the result of something else.

have you taken the head off yet?

I've taken the head off 3 times on saturday. The turbo, wastegate, port #4 on the exhaust had oil and water. I used arp headstuds today with the new headgasket and no more smoking. The motor has 170,000 so a bad headgasket was a very good possibly. Why wouldn't you reuse stock head studs? I've done it before with no problems except this time.

they stretch. maybe under n/a driving conditions you can get away with it, but under boost, the head can lift/blow the gasket
