Default brand new clutch slipping or tranny problem...please help! maybe someone had similar problems.

let me tell you what i have first. i have a 93 acura integra gsr. y1 tranny with brand new exedy race clutch(08-800), brand new TO baering, Brand new spring, brand new fidanza flywheel, brand new acura clutch cable and brand new pilot bearing.

i just reached 700 miles and broke it in correctly ofcourse. for three weeks the clutch was PERFECT. great feel, grab, and pedal pressure.

now, i did a search and could find nothing similar to my problem.

here is the problem:

just recently i was gunning my car in vtec and then it happened...the clutch gave way and i had no more grab...it basically slips....imagine your car in neutral in ALLLLL gears...that is how my car feels. pedal pressure is still great, but my car goes nowhere when i put it in any gear. oh, and the speedo goes up fine when i put it in gear and push the throttle....so i think the clutch is still engaging, but i could be wrong.....also i noticed that my tranny fluid is leaking slightly as i can see it where the drain bolt is. please all you techs, help me out..... thanks in advance

Check your engine oil. If it is even a tad bit high, it is possible that you could have built up too much pressure in the crankcase and blown out the rear main seal.

Since most Hondas use motor oil in both the transmission and engine, it is hard to diagnose a leak. However, if you notice fluid around the area of the drain bolt (which is where it will drip to) then a blown rear main seal is a possibility.

Also, motor oil inside the bell housing will cause a new clutch to slip unexpectedly, which is exactly your problem.

Check and see if the driver side axle came out

oops i forgot to mention that the oil in it is redline MTL....so its red and im pretty sure its the tranny oil........but even though if there is oil in my clutch, couldnt i still move just a lil bit? and this happened all of a sudden, my clutch wasnt slipping until now.....and when i mean slipping it feels like i have no axles..lol........but my friends are telling me that since i have REBUILT axles that one of them couldve gone SOUR....so if one of them is BUSSTED inside, could that be the problem? IF SO, how do i check to see if that is the problem without takiing out the axle? can i just wiggle it? or could it be the stock DIFF? its not lsd so dont know what to call it

thanks for all your help......

Agree with above. Some type of fluid/lubricant has gotten on your clutch disk and is causing it to slip. Dont delay on fixing it for too long

Even poorly rebuilt axles rarely go bad at the ends. If one of the axles popped out, your car wouldn't move at all. If it were still haleway in, then you would hear a horrible grinding noise when you try to move the car.

Check your joints on the axles. For an axle to slip out, either the axle has to snap or the joints have to break. There is no other way.

As a last resort, take the axles out of the trans and make sure the snap ring on the end is still there. If it is missing, just pray that you lost it on the road. Otherwise it is floating around in your trans and then you will have a big problem.

As long as you have it apart, if you find that there is no oil causing the slippage, measure the step between the clutch surface and the surface that the PP mounts to. Don't assume Fidenza is above making that mistake...I remember a couple years ago Clutchmasters had the same prob. with their flywheels.

GTM: my car does not move at all!

i had one more question, what moves the MPH? i mean the vehicle speed cable? if that still moves then does that mean the clutch is engaging? im hoping that its just the axles.....poorly made or just popped out........if it were the PP and the flywheel not exactly touching or not to spec, then wouldnt my car move a lil bit? does it just go out all of a sudden? like i said above, my car ran like a champ ........hmmmmmwell thanks for all your help guys and i dont mean to ask too many questions, i just hope someone can help me......imma check out the axles later....peace yall

The vehicle speed cable (or sensor) reads speed off of the differential, which would not move if the clutch is not engaging.

If your speedometer is moving, then the problem is almost definitely one step farther down the line than the flywheel-clutch disc-pressure plate-differential---

If your car does not move at all, then your problem is in the axles.
