y8 head on my y5 (mini me) help please

Default y8 head on my y5 (mini me) help please

yeah so superhonda sucks so i came here.. i have a 97 civic hx with a d16yb engine.. i have a y8 head that i want to put on my engine i understand that i have vtec but its E vtec the fuel efficiant vtec. i want the opposite vtec so i can burn some fuel the head has the manifold, throttle body, fuel rail. everything that i need for that part. i dont know what i need to do wiring wise. if anyone can help me out that would be great i want this on within a week or 2 thank you for your imput

all u really need is probaly an ex/si ecu thats it the vtec sensors should plug in

i think that it wont work with an ex ecu, cause the hx has that weird cvt tranny and it has egr, and it has a wideband o2 that the ex ecu can't control... i wish i knew someone that did the same swap so i knew what to do.. if u find anything out or if u can just use the ex ecu let me know. thanks

Not worth the swap. You won't see much of a gain if any.

really? i heard u get up to 15 extra hp? have you done this on your car?

I put a y8 head on a y7 block which I gained close to 30hp. It was not very noticable at all. I spent about $600 when all said and done. Then I went and spent another $200 on an ex tranny. I should have saved it all and put in a ls motor or turboed my stock motor.

yeah, i got the y8 head for free my buddy had it in his garage and descided not to use it so im trying to put it to use. what did u have to do to wire it in? and 30 hp is a lot im suprised u couldn't tell the difference, i put a dry 65 shot on my car and i feel it like whoa

My swap will probably be different than yours, but I had to do the 3 wire to 2 wire iacv conversion, wire in the knock sensor, the vtec solenoid, and the vtec pressure sensor.

It was too much work and money invested for not much of an improvement. The ex tranny was the better upgrade.

can u kinda walk me threw it like what colors are which and do u have any pictures? and what are the suplies i need? thank you so much : )
ps what model is yours and whats your engine code cuz mines an hx and i know that i have the vtec silinoid already what do u think i have to do? thanks again

Sorry I am not familiar with the HX motor or its wiring so I couldn't be of any help.
