Default 286 WHP DYNO'D TODAY car is "busting up" WTF!?!?

Well you see what I see. I was hoping to get above 300 but I think Ive got a problem with the wastegate (delta gate).
Ive got cp 9/1 pistons, eagle rods, stock head, skunk2 intake mani, t3b turbo, LSVTEC. My first run was at low boost (10.5 lbs) and I made 259 hp. The 286 hp pull was done @ 14.5 lbs. I thought for sure that it would make more difference than that. I think it might be restricted bc of the stock b16 cams but i dont know for sure. Anyone else run into the same thing be4?

Also, and a more immediate problem (daily driver) as I am accelerating (not "gettin on it"), just a bit quicker than my mom's driving, the car starts busting up,.....spitting and sputtering after vtec (5000rpm's). That worries me. Im not sure why its doin it but it only does it at boost levels over 11 lbs.... or actually,.....when Ive got the boost controller set higher than 11 lbs. WTF!?!? I DO have a GM 3 bar map sensor on it so I dont see how this should be a problem.

Any input would be greatly appreciated......

you need to list what kind of engine managment your using and what are the exact specs of the turbo and what kind of manifold your using.

I did, he seems to think that my vtec is "falling out". Im gonna try to jump the solenoid later and see if its engaging right. also there was no vtec spike on the dyno charts, just as smooth as the rest of the rev range when usually u get that spike. You could hear the vtec engaging though so it doesnt make a whole lotta sense. What is up with an extra 4 1/2 lbs of boost only givving me 20 hp????

Try gapping your plugs closer, I had mine @ .044 for my first day boosted and it started doing what your describing, try gapping em @ .028 and see what that does. It would start cutting out around 5k and I would lose power. Once I gapped em closer, it fixed the problem. I dunno whats up with your VTEC. If you cant hear it/feel it kick in, check all the stuff that allows it to engauge (oil pressure, speed sensor ect) and then check the wiring. BTW did it do what your describing on the dyno? I dunno the exact specs on your snail but it may not be flowing that many CFMs.... Let us know how things turn out. Oops, just realized were talking about 2 different cars.... Sorry if its confusing.

Good Luck!

Everyone runs 'chipped' p28s but that alone does not mean anything. You need to know what he is using to program it or if he's just giving you some generic superchip.

also remember. the t3/t04b puts out shitty numbers.

my buddy had one on a fully built 83mmb16 and at 14psi he only made 290 at the wheels.

Oh ok,.... I see what you mean. Chalk that one up to no experience... Bear with me though. Im learning fast. Mostly from all of you guys. Im not sure the program he uses. I'll find out though. Does anybody see the lack of a vtec spike?? or is it just me?

yeah, I mean breaking up. Well, we found out 1 of ,my problems.........My plugs are Autolite's and theyve got about 3000 miles on them. I just found out that they only last about 1000 miles. LESSON LEARNED!!

That still doesnt explain why my power output was so low. One thing I know I did wrong was dynoing in 3rd gear. Now he tells me that I shouldve been doin it in 4th. LESSON #263 LEARNED.

Do you guys think that those two problems would be enough to limit my horsepower by 15-20 figures?
