Default oil pan woes....can it be fixed? need an answer quick!

whats up...got a quick question.
my oil pan return like took a crap...and looks like the bung on the pan needs to be moved over a few inches. my question is this......is it safe to have the barbed pipe removed, weld up from the inside and outside....and then move it over? i would really much rather take this route than go to spend 190 at acura for a new pan today...if anyone can clarify please let me know!!

the oil pan is not cast and there should be no problems with it being welded, just that the metal is thin and can easily burn through if the welder is not very good. just make sure to check for leaks around the weld and re-weld again if it has leaks. the other option, you can get a new pan, then drill and tap the block for your return line. there is a certain spot on the block that can be drilled through and then tapped and works great for a return line, but you might have to make a new hose, depending on the setup and/or position of the turbo on whether you can use that spot or not.

Could some one elaborate on this?
