Max Power on 93 (experts needed)
I *think* Tony1 posted a while back that the most he likes to tune for on pump is in the 100hp per cylinder range. I made 402 on pump and a very conservative tune and low boost. I have seen a lot higher numbers but the tune was probrably more aggressive and they were running like 18psi. It can be done but I wouldn't feel comfortable going that high with my setup.

I made 402 also on pump gas with my old setup... Its just alot more unstable and all 93 octane is not equal. Its very common for a gas station to give you a tank of bad gas and potentially destroy a high hp motor.

There's a difference between possible and realistic.
Pump gas to me means we're talking street trim, so you can drive it for quite a while on the street with no problems. At 500 WHP on pump gas you are a half a bad tank of gas away from good bye motor, and I don't think it's practical for a real street car.
I think 400-450 is a safe range, and even that is getting to the point of being completely worthless on the street.

i know all the #'s that are possible but like everyone else said i dont want to get a bad tank of gas and the set up go down the drain.

exactly.. does it matter about the whp # or more about how agressive the tune is? how effient are h series motors?

It's a combination of both. WHP dictates how agressive your tune can be, and how agressive your tune can be dictates WHP. At some point pump gas simply will not be able to control detonation, and I think you're coming up on it FAST at 500 WHP.

Tuning is not the only factor here. Bottom line is: The internals will dictate on how efficient the engine will work as a whole. If two engines have the same exact setup except say; one engine has a stock head and the other has a fully built head, it's quite obvious that under the same exact tuning condition on the same gas, the engine with the built head will make more power because it has to work far far less to suck in and expel air/gases.

And like I said, at 500 WHP you're coming up on those limits, no matter how efficient your head is. Boosted Hybrid commented about how much a ported head helped on pump gas, and said "10-20 WHP at best", so I don't think it's some huge factor where on a stock B16 head you might squeeze out 450, but on a race ported ITR head you can make 600 no problem.

You could get a bad tank of gas and blow up a 200hp motor.
