High Horse Power On Pump Gas?
I've been lead to believe that around 350-375whp is the limitation of pump gas. We only have 92 octane here in hawaii.
So my question to HT is, has anyone made more than 350-375 on pump gas.
If so, how much boost were you running, what compression ratio was your motor, and dyno charts if avaialble.
Thanks In Advance..

The lower you go on compression is the more you can make on pump gas.
519whp on pump gas..

ive tuned three cars that have made 500 on pump (93 octane).
would i run that every day? no, because race gas is much safer.

i have a 9:1 C/R b16 motor that i'm wanting to make 400whp (daily) on 92 octane pump? Can it be done?
Any input in appriciated.
Thanks!

A friend of mine made ~425 WHP on 92 octane with a motor I built. Stock sleeves, wiseco 8.7:1, eagle rods, Portflow ITR head w/S2 springs/retainers, VictorX IM, lovefab minime, 3.5" DP, GT35E, PTE 750HP IC, AEM.
But 400 WHP on pump gas is a band wagon like 4" DP's, you wouldn't like it.

Another thing we have to worry about here in Hawaii Brahda Edgar, is the humidity. I'm curious how the humidity will affect my turbo application. That is another topic entirely.

you dont have to worry about humidity, there isn't extreme temperature changes like in the mainland. You would be more likely to get a bad tank of gas before the hawaii weather affect your turbo car.

my friend got 450 whp on 91 octane
fully built gsr. 9.1 JE with a gt35r boosting 14psi
he made 350 whp with the same setup just with a t3 60-1 instead of the gt35

Re: High Horse Power On Pump Gas? (b16sedan)
I've built and tuned two gsr engines in the last year that are making 400whp on pump gas daily driven at 17-18psi, both 9:1 with .63 t3/67s.

I dont think 400whp on pump gas is possible without a 4" downpipe.. So basically - you screwed..
haha. Your set up can go 400whp, with the right tune and good tank of gas. Dont push it - its not worth it to post a dyno. Leave it where it feels good but safe and you'll be happy.

i hope im not the only one that things 4" down pipe is a little excessive.
My car was orignally built to make numbers, on a stock block stock head.
Right now it feels like 330-350whp but want to push it more to around 375-400whp.

So you gonna try hitting those #s on stock internals? Mad props man! Make the power, tune it and DD and show everyone that it can be done!

400 WHP on a stock B16 block on pump gas is not going to be reliable, I can tell you this right now. I used to have an Si and with ~375 from an SC61 on primarily 110 octane gas I went through several shortblocks because the ringlands always decided to puke out on me.

Actually, the two 400whp cars I posted about had 3" downpipes and full 2.5" exhausts, so there goes that theory.

He was making fun of him because he always posts in threads about 4" downpipes and says how much they suck and how you'd see no gains from them

I think can daily drive on 400whp stock b16 with no problem. will it be reliable yes, to a point.
Everyone thinks that it will see boost every time i take it out. Thats rarely the case. I'm rarely in boost when running around town doing errands, the only time im in boost is like getting on an on ramp on the free way etc..
i dont abuse my cars every time i take it for a drive.
