Default turbo glowing red

tonight in the dark i look down and my turbo was glowing a dim red. i know turbos do that alot but i didnt think i was giving it that much hell. i was easing it up to 5 grand constantly and letting it rev down for about a mile or 2 never letting out on the clutch just doing 3psi of boost and then engine braking trying to seat my rings. it took forever for it to kool off to not glowing but it still was spinning freely and it never has spooling problems while i was messing around, it prolly glow for 2 or 3 minutes but it wasnt bright like ive seen them fresh off the track after a pass. could it be a shitty tune because of the variance in displacement and making the EGT's go through the roof? by the way its a lsvtec fresh off the engine stand. ive been having problems over heating and i think i ve fixed that but i could have blown a headgasket but i wouldnt think that would make my EGT's go sky high. maybe the turbos glow all the time after driving like i was but ive never popped the hood at night to see it in the absence of light. it was a dim glow, enough for me to say, is that a light shining on it or is that the exhaust housing.

glowing without a hard run isn't good. Check EGT's or let us know your timing, it could be so retarded that it's not safe. Something doesn't seem right. Be careful. Someone here blew up a freshly built motor at idle because his ignition was accidently too retarded. Just giving you a fair warning, not trying to scare you

Check your timing.
You ever se the pics in magazines where the headers are glowing red? Its from the timing makes them run hotter. if you have your timing advanced it will do the that
for turbo you want to retard your timing.

if it's too advanced you'll just detonate and blow up so you won't see too much glowing red. Too retarded and you will glow as well because of very high EGT's (think about the combustion process). You have a "window" were timing is proper for EGT's to stay within norm

to retarded and blew it at idle, WTF, there HAD to be other factors involved in that. i know my dizzy is sitting in the center of its area of movement where i had it on my last motor it was like 14-16 btdc i think. and it wont just change from putting the dizzy on the new motor cause the ecu counter acts any position movement unless it resets when unplugged unless you have the service plug jumped to set the timing.

if you really want I can find the post and yes it was only the timing. Somethin about the AEM EMS not compensating for the dizzy, basically he didn't check the timing with a timing light until it was too late and most of the cylinders either melted or blew the rings I forget, but it was all at idle . You can always check yur true timing with a timing light....i'd do it just to be safe.
