They say the Y8 is -4* compared to the Z6. But this is my first post, don't live by my words!

I don't think there the same. Ok I got a y8 cam with the z6 pulley in a z6 head so I think there is a timing difference between the two. I want to know if someone knows what my timing sould be at for example 5deg adv on the pulley to make the cam really at 0. I thought the y8 and the z6 have different TDC.

Its about 3-4 deg* I know from installing severall timing gears on z6 and y8 motors.

If you install a cam gear on a y8 and have it set on 0 it will lag and feel slow as ****! YOu have to advance the cam gear 3-4 degress to get it to run like stock.

I learned my lesson from calling skunk when I was installing my first cam gear on a Y8 motor and couldnt get it to run right without advancing it 3 or so degs.

Hope this helps.

The difference is 4.75*, so advance the cam gear 4.5-5*.

ok so I put my timing to 4.5 adv. and now I can't get my engin to stop pinging. It seems to only stop pinging if I put the cam gear back to 0-2 deg avd? and yes I did my timing. What should I do?

doood didnt anyone read his post before replying. putting a y8 cam in a z6 with a z6 gear. y8 and z6 cams are the same so there is no differance in cam timming, your timming should be set at zero (straight up) unless you are going to advance or retard to change the power curve
