Default y8 vs. z6 cam

I have a 95 ex coupe and I have a y8 head laying around. I was wondering if the y8 cam was any better than the z6 cam. I have one so it would be a free upgrade.
I thought I saw specs that the y8 cam was slightly more aggressive.

I just checked the helms for both the Z6 and the Y8.

The Y8 cam is slightly more aggressive in terms of lobe height.

Thanks for the research. I may switch them.

your timing will be slightly off, just to let you know, IIRC it is 6 degrees

Yeah, obviously for optimum results you'd need a dyno tune on a tunable ECU.

4.73 actually

38 teeth on the cam gear

360 degrees / 38 teeth = 9.4736842105263157894736842105263

what's half of 9.4736842105263157894736842105263?

4.7368421052631578947368421052632

IIRC? I have the y8 cam gear too, is there still an issue?

the key word in all of this is slightly... i don't know what your expected gain is but i don't think you'll see it with this. if you have a cam sitting around like that put $100 into it and get a regrind with no downtime on your car. then drop the reground cam in and get it tuned. that and a y8 intake mani... you'll like that better, and it's worth paying for the tune then.

either way, that's just my oppinion so treat it that way. oppinion not advise. do what you think you'll like, but think about this before hand.
