Default why/ how ignition timing is differant in y8 vs z6

I was just curious what makes the Ignition timing differant in the y8 engime compared to the z6??
is it the offset cam or something else??-

Because they are two different engines? Not sure I understand the question.
Maybe you should list what you are trying to do and what car you are doing it to.
