Default Y8 head On a Z6 Block Timing Issue

Cam timing issue. With a y8 head and Can do I use the Y8 cam gear to get proper mechanical
Timing? I got a Crower cam na stage 3 for a D16z6 with the Crower adjustable can gear. If I put the Crower Z6 can in the Y8 head, will it work? If so What timing gear Should I use to run the Crower Z6 cam in said Y8 head on my z6 block?
Thank you for All help in advance

I've no experience but from what I've read, use the Y8 Cam gear and you'll need a timing belt for the Y8.

I was under the impression the Z6 block and the Y7/Y8 blocks were the same deck height so as to handle the longer rods. In which case the timing shouldn't be off the 1/2 tooth like it is on the shorter D15 block.

Correct. In this case there is no need to worry about timing change from the head swap BUT he's using a Z6 specific camshaft. Here he should be using the a 88-95 specific camgear (so as to treat the whole assembly as a Z6) if not already using an adjustable camgear.

I remember when I had my adjustable gear for a Y8, it gave two separate settings, one for the Y8 and one for the Z6. I assume that means something is different then, yes?

From what my investigations add up to. Yes. 7.4° difference between z6 and y8 cam gears

Use the z6 cam gear if using a z6 cam. That's what I have. It's essentially a z6 head if your using the cam

It's actually 4.73° difference, roughly half a tooth.

OBD1 and I think OBD0 is keyed a half a tooth off of OBD2 motors. That's why you can adjust the half a tooth variance from the deck height of some mini me's by swapping the cam gear.
